National Electrical Contractors Ireland (NECI) was formed to provide a platform for Electrical Contractors in Ireland who had no voice when it came to talks about Pay and Conditions. In June 2008 a Steering group was set up to oversee the Formation of the new organisation. This steering group achieved all its objectives (including stopping the 5% pay increase) as mandated by those who attended the start-up meeting in Athlone. The steering group was replaced by the first National Council elected by the large attendance at the first AGM, which was held in February 2009.
